Finely produced copy of author's autobiographical novel set in his native Knoxville, Tennessee which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1958. Though published in 1957, it was actually written by Agee from 1948 through 1955; and published posthumously. In rich black full leather covers with elaborate gilt ornamentation on front, back and spine; four raised bands on spine. All edges gilt. Interior published on rich papers and with maroon silk moire endpapers and matching satin ribbon bookmark sewn in. --- Illustrated by Ben F. Wohlbert. A bright, sharp, clean, unmarked copy.
