First Edition. Grandson of John Quincy Adams and great-grandson of John Adams, Henry Adams (1838-1918) was a historian, author and consummate Washington, D.C. insider. This grouping of his letters covers the early years, and was originally published as part of a two-volume set. Edited, and with introductory note, by Worthington Chauncey Ford. --- This edition is one of 325 copies of the First Edition bound with uncut edges. In full red-orange cloth-covered boards w/titling on paper spine label. --- With tears to paper at front gutter, exposing the mull and with a little warping to boards; but volume is firm and clean though with pencilings to front paste-down. ; tall 8vo 9" - 10" tall; vi, 552 pages
