Author's tale, first written in 1894, is set in his mythical Kingdom of Ruritania. Illustrated in color and b&w by Donald Spencer. With an introduction by S.C. Roberts. --- With publisher's 'Sandglass' flyer specific to this title laid in. In maroon full cloth-covered boards with Ruritania crest in gilt on both front and back; titling in gilt on spine. In patterned design, intact maroon slipcase. --- Very slight soiling to cover cloth, otherwise a very nice copy with striking illustrations. (Any reference to dust jacket is meant to describe the slipcase.) ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 188 pages

Volume XVIII in Arrowsmith's 3/6 series, possibly published c.1894-1910s. Calendar page offering insight into this novel and Ruritania is laid in. --- In full brown cloth-covered boards with titling gilt-stamped on cover and spine. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- The book is slightly cocked, with some water spotting on cover and with faded spine. Interior clean and unmarked, with light foxing at end papers. Back of book has list of Arrowsmith's additional offerings in 3/6 series.; 12mo (7 to 7-1/2 in. tall); 310 pages
