An early edition, in limp green bonded leather, published in same year as the first edition (1914). Originally included 4 color illustrations by F. Graham Cootes, all but one of which are missing. The plate in this copy has detached from book but is present. With titling in gilt on cover & spine and cover bordered in gilt. Top edge gilt. Spine is sunned; textblock firm. Prev. owner's endpaper signature, else interior clean and unmarked. --- 'A delightfully wholesome romance among orange groves and mountains of Southern California.' The author based the town in this work on Redlands, California where he had resided in 1907. ; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 464 pages

First Edition, August 1919. With four color illustrations by J. Allen St. John. Includes an eight page biographical sketch of Mr. Wright by Elsbery W. Reynolds. In maroon cloth-covered boards w/titling and border in gilt. Textblock is a bit loose, covers with minor edgewear. Lacks the dust jacket. --- Wright set this novel in the Ozarks and modeled the title character after himself, exploring themes of divorce and happy marriages. ; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 352 pages

First Edition, with publisher's serial number on front pastedown. In full maroon cloth-covered boards with titling in gilt on cover and spine. With illustrations and decorations by the author scattered throughout the volume. A firm, intact copy but with edgewear and carefully repaired rear gutter; Christmas gift inscription dated 1917 on FFEP. --- Harold Bell Wright, a Christian pastor, wrote many popular stories and novels. 'When a Man's a Man' is set in the west, and was dedicated by the author to his three sons. ; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 348 pages
