A very handsome edition of the author's fictionalized version of the celebrated Menahem Mendel Beilis trial in pre-revolutionary Russia. First published in 1966 and awarded the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1967. With illustrations by Frances Jetter.--- In full green leather with three raised bands on spine. With elaborate gilt decorations on both covers and on spine; titling on spine in gilt, and all edges also in gilt. Interior leaves of high-quality, off-white paper. Green silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon bookmark. Issued as part of the publisher's Pulitzer Prize-winners series. --- A clean, bright, unmarked copy in excellent condition but with a hint of sunfading at edges of moire endpapers and a scratch to gilding on textblock fore-edge. Lacks a dust jacket (as issued).; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 305 pages
