In full dark green leather-covered boards with 4 raised bands on spine; shamrock and other decorations in gilt on cover and spine, with gilt spine titling. With pale orange silk moire endpapers and satin bookmark ribbon. All edges in bright gilt. Leaves of high-quality non-acidic papers. With a slight spine slant; faint scuffing to spine bands. Author's semi-autobiographical first novel is set against the Dublin of his youth, with a healthy dose of Catholicism.
