With an introduction by Hugh Kenner; illustrated in color and black & white by Brian Keogh. In full dark green leather-covered boards with 4 raised bands on spine; shamrock and other decorations in gilt on cover and spine, with gilt spine titling. With pale orange silk moire endpapers and satin bookmark ribbon. All edges in bright gilt. Leaves of high-quality non-acidic papers. With a slight spine slant; faint scuffing to spine bands. Author's semi-autobiographical first novel is set against the Dublin of his youth, with a healthy dose of Catholicism. The unique style in which he wrote his 'Ulysses' emerges here. ; tall 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 254 pages

James Joyce's first published work (1914) was this collection of his 15 stories. This edition with an introduction by Padraic Colum. Volume bears 1954 date but estimated publication date c.1963. With unnumbered list of ML titles on verso of dust jacket. In full blue cloth-covered boards with hexagon ML logo blindstamped on front, and bright gilt decorations & lettering, spine. With sm. remainder mark on top edge of text block, else interior and exterior of vol. clean and bright. Priceclipped dust jacket has extensive rubbing and chipping at edges, inkings on frt. flap and now in removable mylar protector. Interior has inkings, lots of them on introduction by Harry Levin and few thereafter. Overall, tight and firm copy. Dust jacket chafed along edges, sticker removal damage on cover and in removable mylar protector. A handsome collection of author's most known works; includes passages from Ulysses and Finnegan's Wake. ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 760 pages
