Six months of the magazine bound together by the publisher, The Century Company, in dark red quarter leather and black cloth-covered boards. Includes the months of May, 1892 through October, 1892. With 6-page table of contents inserted before first month. Volume very firm and tight; with some yellowed interior pages. Previous owner's signature (or rubber stamping) appears randomly through the volume. Cover worn at edges with outer skin of leather abraded in spots. --- Each issue of The Century Magazine includes non-fiction articles and stories, often by well-known authors, as well as dozens of illustrations, photos, poems, and letters. Includes a six-part biography of Christopher Columbus by Emilio Castelar, who was to become the president of the First Spanish Republic. Featured are six poems by Herman Melville. One series of articles, 'The Naulahka' was written by Rudyard Kipling and Wolcott Balestier; another, 'An Elk Hunt at Two-Ocean Pass' written by Theodore Roosevelt, appears here.
