Stated First Edition November, 1931 on copyright page. This scarce edition of the controversial children's classic with 7 color illustrations of the original 8 by Fern Bisel Peat. (One illustration, "Oh! what lovely melted butter", is missing.) Also with 13 black and white illustrations by Ms. Peat. --- In patterned dark red cloth-covered boards with Peat circular color illustration pasted to cover. Unpaginated, with 46 yellow-bordered leaves (not counting the full-size color illustrations tipped onto the leaves). --- A Fair only copy with at least 3 detached (but present) leaves, 2 pages with repaired nearly full-length diagonal tears, inked gift inscription to front free endpaper, and a very loose binding.
