This work first published in 1945, and depicts the county as it appeared "before the aerial bombardment of the island" during World War II. An entry in the 41-volume "The King's England" series. --- In red paper-covered boards with titling and decorations stamped in black on cover & spine. Jacket features the county's crest on cover. --- Insertions of newspaper clippings have resulted in acidic stains at a few locations in the book. With inked gift inscription to front paste-down, and mildly rounded cover corners; otherwise a firm, clean copy.
