The author had trouble getting the novel published, but once available it became tremendously popular and has stayed in print ever since. Edited and with an introduction by Ernest Rhys. Entry 304 in Everyman's Library fiction series. --- A 1948 reprint edition, in Everyman's Library binding style 3 with full red cloth and gilt-stamped spine titling, blindstamped EL ribbon "knot" to cover and brown topstain. Red jacket features the same knot on cover. --- A clean, bright, firmly-bound copy but with sunned spots to spine.
