Bringing the writings to print proved a challenge due to Thoreau's difficult handwriting and annotation scheme. Editor Bradley P. Dean was able to accomplish this, resulting in this attractive work. With illustrations by Abigail Rorer, a map of the Concord, Massachusetts area to endpapers, and facsimiles of pages from Thoreau's original manuscript. --- In green and brown paper-covered boards with blue and gilt foil titling to spine.
