A first printing of a special edition of this famous collection of 12 of Arthur Conan Doyle's short stories featuring his famous Sherlock Holmes character and narrated by Holmes associate, Dr. Watson. The stories first appeared in the Strand magazine in 1891-92, and were first published collectively in 1892. The stories are accompanied by 12 marvelous color illustrations by the noted illustrator Barry Moser, who has signed the title page. This attractive edition produced by Books of Wonder, co-owned by Peter Glassman, who has supplied an afterword. --- In full brown cloth-covered boards with image of Holmes and titling in blind to front panel; titling in gilt to spine & yellow topstain, in this reinforced trade edition. Jacket features Moser portrait of Holmes (which is different than the painted Holmes portrait by Moser which appears on page 24). --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy lacking damages worthy of mention.
