A first edition of this history of California's Nevada County Railroad. Notable for its high trestles & bridges, the narrow gauge line was built to service the mines, and also carried passengers between Colfax and the "twin cities" of Nevada City and Grass Valley. With several dozen black & white photos of people, equipment, timetables and other relevant information. Also with route and yard maps, specifications, power units, rolling stock and other info. Includes a fold-out schematic drawing to NCNGRR unit no. 5. --- In orange cloth-covered boards with railroad insignia stamped in maroon to cover; titling in maroon to spine. Jacket features photo of the impressive, high Bear River Bridge, with a train making its way across. --- A clean, bright, copy but with prior owner's rubberstampings to at least three locations.
