A deluxe edition of this translation and examination of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The scrolls were found in the late 1940s and early 1950s near the western shore of the Dead Sea. The content has been translated into English, with introduction and commentaries, by Giza Vermes. With color and black & white illustrations by Shraga Weil. --- In full terra cotta cloth-covered boards with gilt Weil image of tribesman blowing a ram's horn to cover & gilt spine titling on white block; reddish topstain. Volume housed in red paper-covered slipcase. Sandglass flyer laid in (NY, no. XI:31). --- A very nice copy, but with light sunning to spine, otherwise a bright, tightly bound, unmarked copy. Slipcase with slight sunning, else in excellent shape and remaining structurally sound.; Quarto - 11 to 13 in. tall; (10), 241 pages
