Born in Quincy, Illinois, photographer Louis Charles McClure made his way to Denver in the 1880s and learned the basics of photography from the notable William Henry Jackson. He went on to a lifetime of photographing the people and places of Denver and Colorado. This work presents 300 of his eye-catching photos from the late 1900s through the 1930s, depicting McClure's work which provided views of railroads, mines, industry, city streets, agriculture, construction, and general views of people living their lives. Many of them bore his caption "photo by L. M. McClure, Denver". Photos compiled, and with a brief biography of Mr. McClure, by William C. Jones and Elizabeth B. Jones. --- A second printing, in leather-look black paper-covered boards with titling in silver on spine. Jacket bears representative McClure photos to front and back panels. --- A very nice copy: clean, bright and tightly bound.
